INSIDE OUR BEACH HUTS

Drinking Water

The water in the beach huts is safe for showering and brushing your teeth, but please don’t drink it. Two chilled bottles of filtered water are in each hut's fridge and they can be refilled at Blue Lagoon Beach Bar & Restaurant between 8:00am to 9:00pm daily. There are also takeaway bottles of water and other beverages available for purchase.

Power & Water Conservation

Our remote island has limited resources and we hope you’ll join us in conserving them so future generations may enjoy this island. Here are a few things you can do to conserve:

  • Turn off the air conditioning, ceiling fan, lights & appliances when departing your hut.
  • Close all windows and doors when using the AC. Be mindful of your water usage while showering.
  • Ensure your children are under supervision when using water taps.
  • Report any malfunctioning services to our front desk.

Housekeeping

Housekeeping during your stay is provided Monday - Saturday between 10am-2pm. Sorry, housekeeping services are not available on Sunday.

Towels left on the floor will be replaced and bed linens will be replaced every 3 days.

Laundry Service

Laundry services are available for $20 per load and you can request a laundry bag at the front desk. Please note: we use the wind and sun to dry, so laundry is generally returned the day after we receive it. Weather conditions may delay it further and we’ll do our best to let you know if that is the case during your stay.

Check-out

Check-out is 10am. Subject to availability, a late check-out may be requested at the front desk the day before your departure. A late check-out charge of 75NZ will apply.

OUR BEACH

Kayaks & Life Jackets

As in-house guests, kayaks and SUPs are complimentary for your use and enjoyment. Please pop into the office and sign a liability waiver. One of our team will assist you with the proper paddle and life jacket and send you into the lagoon for an experience you will never forget.  Life jackets are not mandatory, but we do highly recommend using them while paddling. Children especially, regardless of their capability to swim, should wear them.

Sun Loungers

Sun loungers on our beach are reserved for our in-house guests only and they are complimentary. The Blue Lagoon Beach Bar & Restaurant is just steps away and you are welcome to grab a drink and enjoy it on the beach while you lounge in the tropical sun.

Reef Shoes & Snorkel Gear

Sorry, we do not provide reef shoes or snorkeling gear post-Covid. If you’ve left yours at home, please wear some form of sandal or protective shoes in the lagoon or stop by Vonnia's in town where you can purchase reef shoes, flip flops and snorkel gear.

ISLAND LIFE

WiFi

We are a Vodaphone hotspot, but before you can access the signal here, you’ll need to purchase a voucher. We recommend purchasing and activating an eSIM from Vodaphone Cook Islands prior to your arrival into the Cook Islands. Once on the island, hotspot vouchers can be purchased around the island and the nearest outlet is Koru Café, only a 5 minute walk away. The Boat Shed also sells vouchers and it’s just another 2 minute walk past Koru Café.

Our beach huts don’t have landlines, but we are happy to assist you with making local calls during your stay with us.

Our Heritage & Culture

Ararau Enua O Ru Ki Te Moana

(we live for song and dance)

Aitutaki islanders are “happy go lucky” people and we enjoy and appreciate the simple  things in life. Our heritage has been passed to us from our ancestors through music and dance and we share this with our visitors as a sign of appreciation and love.

Please be mindful to dress conservatively when off the beach and our property. Bathing suits are discouraged in public spaces, especially in the main town or shop areas.

Our Faith

The first missionaries carried the message of the bible to Aitutaki in 1950. We are a Christian-orientated island and are proud to have 11 churches. We invite visitors to join us in worship on Sundays.

Our Land

We take pride in keeping our little island paradise clean and ask that you be mindful of trash and deposit it properly to avoid it blowing into our pristine lagoon.

Our Language

We speak English and Cook Islands Māori. Each island has their own dialect, but we all use these words and we encourage you to learn them too:

Kia Orana – Greeting

Ka kite – Goodbye

Meitaki - Thank you

Meitaki Atupaka - Thank you very much
